Blog Entry: A Fayette County jury found a Lemont Furnace man guilty of rape after a two-day trial. Cedric Lamont Greer, 35, was charged last year with rape, robbery, terroristic threats and assault after police said DNA linked him to the 2005 assault. In a criminal complaint, state police at Uniontown accused Greer of approaching a man and a woman as they were having consensual sex in a sport utility vehicle parked off a dead-end road in Georges on Aug. 27, 2005. Police said Greer threatened the couple with a gun, then forced the woman to perform various sex acts. Semen collected from the victim's sweater was found to be Greer's when compared in 2008 to DNA samples contained in the Combined DNA Index System, or CODIS, according to the affidavit. mac cosmetics CODIS is a database of convicted replicas miu miu criminals' DNA that is available to law enforcement agencies nationwide. Greer's DNA was on file because of his incarceration in state prison, according to the complaint. Solomon dismissed charges of robbery, theft and aggravated assault after determining there was not enough evidence to convict, according to Assistant District Attorney Phyllis Jin. Greer had been tried on the same charges once previously, in February. A mistrial was declared at that time because jurors could not reach verdicts on any of the counts. Greer faces sentencing June 10 before Solomon.
